Ok so i'm pretty sure I jinxed my scalp the other day when I said it wasn't itchy... Or that sea spray is horrible. One of the two. My scalp is itchy! Not the usual "I have an itch" no i'm talking I want to claw my scalp itchy. And hello dandruff... You can go away now! Taking a nice hot shower hoping that helps, not using the baking soda today but I hope the water helps

No 'poo update No. 2
Day 8- full baking soda vinegar wash today, ends feel a little dry and roots are a little more greasy than I would like but after the day 4 olive oil fiasco I have no complaints
Day 9- hair feels pretty good :) I am certainly starting to get used to the new feel of my hair. baking soda wash for the bangs but other than that my hair feels great, my scalp isn't as itchy as it used to be (always a plus) bought a spray bottle and made some sea mist spray, heard it helps bring out your natural waves more.. Guess we'll see tomorrow after I shower :)
Hope everyone out there had a good presidents day! Mom and I went and saw Safe haven by Nicholas Sparks, beautiful movie! If you haven't seen it, go as soon as possible :)

No shampoo update No. 1
Day 4- Washed my hair with Dawn dish soap to get the olive oil out, hoping it left enough oil in my hair that I don't have to start over but oh well :)
Day 5- My hair actually stayed teased all day for once... Wonder if this has something to do with the no 'poo system? Or I just teased it better than usual? Hmmm
Day 6- Yup i'm thinking I had to start over because this is my usual "don't have time to do anything" greasy hair lol
Day 7- My actual hair doesn't look too bad, had to no 'poo my bangs but other than that all is well in hair land.
Experimented with my hair last night in preparation of my totally kick ass concert on the 27th black veil brides at the complex in slc!( http://www.thecomplexslc.com/event-510.htm ) And I drug out the old crimper... Yup I went there lol anyway, I straitened my hair then added a few random crimped pieces per layer, teased it and pinned the front a little bit, added my hot pink hair clip inns and my hair looked pretty rock concert ready :) anyway, today I straitened my hair but the volume that the crimping gave my hair stayed in and looks amazing so i'm thinking that once a week I'll crimp a few sections of hair and since I don't wash my hair everyday the volume will stay. How is your no 'poo experience going? What do you do to add volume and body to your hair?

No "poo" shampoo
OK ladies i started the "no 'poo" method on Sunday.
If you aren't familiar with the no 'poo method then here's the deal!
lots of people are going no shampoo because the chemicals in it are harmful to your hair. your hair has natural oils that produce perfect amounts of oils accordingly to your hair type. the shampoos strip our hair of the natural oils then conditioners put oils back into our hair, then our natural oils try to catch up and over produce oil because it was just stripped of oil. hence the vicious cycle of washing your hair everyday. women back in the day had such healthy hair even though they only bathed what once a year? They didn't have chemicals clogging pores and making your hair frizzy and annoying to work with. the no shampoo movement is supposed to
1.) make your hair healthy the way its supposed to be
2.) reduce damage to your hair on a daily basis
3.) ya don't have to wash it everyday! (other bloggers say they have gone up to ten days without washing but thats a bit much for me)
so heres how ya do it! there are two different ways to do this that i have heard of so far.
option 1:
shampoo-
1-2 Tablespoons of baking soda to 1 cup water
massage into your scalp only! leave on for a min while your rubbing your scalp. focus along your hairline and part.
conditioner-
1-2 Tablespoons of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR to 1 cup water
pour over just the ends of your hair and rub in. leave on for a few min while you continue bathing (just because your not using shampoo on your hair doesn't mean you can be smelly and dirty lol)
option 2:
shampoo-
form a paste with the baking soda and a little bit of water and massage that into your scalp (NEVER USE ON THE ENDS OF YOUR HAIR)
conditioner- a "splash" of vinegar and some water in a cup and dip your ends into the cup. let sit while you continue washing your hair.
rinse-
make some chamomile or green tea and pour over your entire head.
whatever method you choose make sure to rinse really well between each step or else your gonna get an 8th grade science fair volcano on top of your head. the baking soda is only supposed to be used once maybe twice a week. the rest of the time just rinse your hair really well with water.
now the one draw back to this is the adjustment period... it can take a few weeks for your hair to realize that it doesn't have to compensate for the lack of oils. so ya have greasy hair for a while (i have taken up ponytails and buns as an everyday look). your hair feels really different! its almost waxy? I cant describe it properly but just imagine it feeling greasy but clean at the same time.
* important side note*
i used to do weekly olive oil treatments on my hair and thought "hey its all natural, it'll help my hair not feel so strawlike". bad plan. I did an overnight olive oil treatment on just the ends of my hair put it in a low bun, covered it with plastic wrap and a grocery bag then covered my entire head with a crappy towel put hair elastics on that to keep it in place and bobby pinned that to my head. this thing wasn't going anywhere soon. then went to bed. woke up this morning and took a "no 'poo" shower.... who knew that baking soda wouldn't get the olive oil outta my hair? not me! so while washing my hair it feels really silky smooth and i'm super stoked thinking i did something right... went to blow dry my hair and it wouldn't dry.... i sat there for like a half hour trying to dry my hair then realized that it was the olive oil... and it was now not just on my ends but now on my roots as well. tried washing it again only with more baking soda this time, still did nothing to help this little problem. the only thing i can compare my hair to right now is John Travolta in Grease.

gross hu? yeah im not very happy right now. so lesson learned... no more olive oil treatments for my hair while "no 'poo". I might have to start over tonight because of the nasty oily hair. oh well.

part 3
march 12, 2011. the day my father, got married to an unknown woman. we all decided we wanted to go to Seattle for that weekend so we wouldn't end up throwing eggs at him. so we packed up the car and went. we had a few complications on the way there. we had tied the luggage on top of the car, on our way out of the state the chords holding it down decided to break. anyway we ended up putting it in the trunk, where i was sitting ( its a montero sport type car so it worked out). so while in Seattle we went to pike place market, went to the gum wall, went to the beach, and just had a great time with my grandpa and grandma out there.
when we got back we had discovered that my mom was getting served from the bountiful Utah police station for harassment charges. we had heard little tibits before this happened but we didn't know what to think of it. anyway now April 3, 2011, we just found out about the charges. the whole thing is pretty fishy to me first of all because my mom didn't get "served". she started getting phone calls from lawyers offering there services. and that's when she went to the police station to find out about the charges. so now my mom has to go get booked (just finger printing and photos) then go to court.
now i don't think my dad realizes what he is doing to this family. we are holding it together by one strand of thread that could snap at any given moment, both my sister and i are now seeing therapists, my sister cat is paying for almost everything extra, we are living off of grants from LDSBC where my mom goes to school.
now i would just like to personally thank my father for throwing us under the bus. i hope you have a great life dad, truly i do. i just don't ever want you involved in my life again. i don't want you to come looking for me when I'm 18 and can now meet your wife. i don't even want to hear your name. as soon as i can, i am going to change my last name to my mothers maiden name, why you might ask? because she has done a hell of a lot more for me than you ever have or ever will do for me. and to Mrs. X, i feel bad for you, you don't know what you married into. good luck. i hope you figure it out sooner rather than later, from what i have heard you are a pretty nice lady. that's it for now, until the court date.

dont mention the "M" word.
My dad moved out the day after my sisters 16th birthday, August 12, 2010. The divorce has been final for about 4 months. He “gave” us a car that now has no license or insurance. He will not sign the papers that the DMV gave us to transfer the car into my moms name because he talked to some people and they said that it would look like fraud, but it looks like fraud now. If he signed the papers it would fix that problem. he has now announced that he is getting married in march, to a woman that only one of my sisters has met, named (for the sake of privacy i am going to call her Mrs. X). My cousin had a baby (she was the first baby born in the state of Utah in 2011.) my sisters mom and I went to visit her and that is how we found out about his engagement, apparently he announced it to his family Christmas eve, my dad thought we were in Seattle for Christmas to visit my moms family. We ended up not going because of the car problems, but my mom wanted him to think we still went so, we spun the lie…
the night we found out we went around to pick up peoples old dried out Christmas trees so that we could go up to the "B" (its a place in bountiful) and burn them. Without knowing it we all had sent him a text telling him how we felt about his engagement. He didn’t respond until the next evening. My sister Liz and I were at a stake fireside (an activity in the LDS church) he called us both in the middle of it, Liz answered her phone and told him that she couldn’t talk. I just didn’t answer mine; I didn’t want to talk to him. Ever. That night a friend of ours came over to help us all figure out what to do; we decided that we didn’t want to meet the mystery woman until we had talked to my dad first, so I told him that. The next morning I find a text message from my dad saying we could just meet as a family before we meet Mrs. X (I call her la-fon-duh).; he asked if we could all meet at the mall food court. I told him we should meet somewhere more personal so we could talk without crying babies. We ended up meeting at a pizza place down town.
That night we went out to dinner with him, my sister Jessica and her husband nick, cat, Liz and I, we all had a game plan. My sister cat had Liz and I write down a list of questions we had for him. We were going to take charge of this meeting, we weren’t going to let him start pointing fingers and yelling at us like he did every other time we went to see him because we always came home confused. In the car we all decided that if he started pointing fingers or if one of us wanted to leave then one of us would stand up and everyone would follow suit. And that’s exactly what we had to do.
When we got to the pizza place, he had already ordered. Cat didn’t beat around the bush; she started the conversation a few minuets after arriving. She wanted to know when he had planned on telling us he was getting married, how much the ring cost, when he got it, how long they had been dating. My dad told us that they had been dating for 6 months, now weather that was a math mistake or if he had been cheating on my mom know one knows for sure. He refused to answer the other questions saying “what does that have to do with anything” and when cat told him it had every thing to do with it he asked if it was an interrogation or a conversation, cat replied by saying it’s a conversation but you have to answer the questions for it to not turn into an interrogation. And that’s about how the night went, no one talking other than cat and my dad, and that’s pretty much what we planned on happening. The night ended by my sister asking one last question, I don’t remember exactly what she said but what ever it was, my dad got defensive fast. He pointed his finger in cats face and pretty much pulled a Matilda with the whole "I'm smart; you're dumb. I'm big; you're small. I'm right, you're wrong. And there's nothing you can do about it." And that’s when we all got up and walked out. When we got outside, my sister Liz collapsed on the ground, we were all trying to get her up off ground when we hear the restaurant door open and my dad steps out, cat yelled to him something along the lines of “you happy? She fainted.” He didn’t even come over to help her. That’s the last time we have seen him. were planning on going out of town for the week of the wedding.

the first 3 months of divorce through the eyes of a 14/15 year old.
"Being divorced is like being hit by a Mack truck. If you live through it, you start looking very carefully to the right and to the left."Jean Kerr.
This is so beyond true, my parents are recently going through a divorce. I can attest to the rumor that the kids get the worst end of the whole thing, it sucks major butt. if you don't believe me, after you have heard our story, you can stick it in your juice box and suck it.
before i start, you have to realize that my parents NEVER should have gotten married but they did. they had a honeymoon baby, then my mom popped out us other 3 so they stayed together "for the kids" pile o' bull (it teaches kids its okay not to be treated like a queen and be respected. so don't do it, your just making it harder for us kids in the long run).
It all really started getting bad in the summer of 2010. august 11th, that was the day my dad left us, the day my sister liz turned 16.
all the arguements can be traced back to the water bill. that summer the water had been shut off (the entire summer!) so we had the bill to pay + the shut off fees. my dad decided that my mom had to figure out a way to turn it back on, to teach her a lesson, so when she went to the bishop of our ward to get some help with the bills my dad got mad. so we went to bear lake to have some fun in the sun. in my defense i did not talk my mom into it, but i didnt really talk her out of it either... anyway my dad made a big deal about how much gas we used but we only used like one tank of gas and my sister cat paid for half of it. anyway he got mad that we werent using the money wisely. a month into it (guesstimation) we got a family pass to the bountiful rec center. we went there about once a week, we wanted hot showers and my dad wanted to teach us how to dive. this entire time my parents are attempting to go on dates and "fix it" but coming home even more pissed off at each other.
in august was my sister liz's 16th birthday. it was 80's themed. the entire party my dad didnt even talk to her, dance with her, nothing. then he didnt come home that night.
